BYTESTEWARD / PRIVACY CHOICES

Your permissions. Your records. Your decision.

Every saved folder authority and local ByteSteward record is inspectable and revocable. These controls affect ByteSteward’s access; they do not silently delete your original files or provider archives.

Revoke folder access

Open ByteSteward → Privacy & Access. Select the saved folder authority and choose Revoke. ByteSteward stops using that bookmark immediately. Choosing the folder again later creates a new permission.

Delete local history and receipts

Open ByteSteward → Settings and use the local-data controls to remove scan history, treatments, and approval receipts. Removing a receipt does not undo an action or delete an exported archive.

Remove an exported archive

Use Finder or the archive provider to delete the exported archive and empty that provider’s trash when appropriate. ByteSteward will never treat a missing archive as verified proof.

Optional aggregate intelligence

It is unavailable and off in the current Mac App Store edition, so there is no server-side contribution to withdraw. If a future release adds it, participation will be opt-in and this page will provide inspect, withdraw, and deletion controls before launch.

Delete all app data

First revoke saved folder access in ByteSteward. Then remove the app and its sandbox data using the supported macOS app-removal workflow. Files or archives you deliberately placed outside the sandbox remain yours and are not removed automatically.

Need assistance?

Use the support page for a privacy or deletion request. Describe the record or permission you want to remove, but never send a recovery key, password, token, or private file.
