MAC STORAGE / SAFE USE & TERMS

Understand the decision before anything changes.

Mac Storage is designed to make storage decisions safer and more explainable. These terms set the ownership, safe-use, and responsibility boundaries around that work.

The agreement that applies

Authorized copies downloaded from the Mac App Store are licensed under Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement unless App Store Connect displays a replacement custom agreement. These terms supplement that agreement with product-specific safe-use guidance; they do not remove rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

Ownership and permitted use

Mac Storage, its source code, visual identity, interface, documentation, analysis methods, and product workflows are proprietary to root777 and protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual-property laws. All rights are reserved except for the limited right to install and use an authorized copy under the applicable end-user license.

No permission is granted to copy, modify, rebrand, publish, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer, create derivative products from, or commercially exploit Mac Storage or its source materials except where applicable law expressly prevents that restriction or root777 agrees in writing.

Decision support is not a backup

Mac Storage measures, explains, ranks, and verifies storage decisions. It is not a backup service and cannot guarantee that an original file, app state, container image, database, archive, cloud copy, or deleted item can be recovered.

  • Maintain current, independently verified backups of important data.
  • Read the exact target and what-stays-untouched explanation before approving a change.
  • Do not approve a change when ownership, active use, recovery proof, permissions, or provider state is unclear.
  • A storage estimate is not a promise that the same number of bytes will immediately return to macOS.

Your approvals

Mac Storage does not authorize a change on your behalf. An approval applies only to the exact target and preflight shown at that moment. You are responsible for confirming that the target and recovery plan match your intent. Receipts document what was approved and verified; they do not guarantee future recoverability.

Third-party services and tools

Apple, cloud providers, container engines, package managers, databases, developer tools, and other third-party products remain governed by their own terms and behavior. Their permissions, availability, synchronization, retention, and recovery capabilities can change independently of Mac Storage.

Warranty and liability limits

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Mac Storage is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, uninterrupted operation, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, recoverability, or non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, root777 and the developer are not liable for data loss, lost profits, lost storage, business interruption, or direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from use of the app, an approved storage action, unavailable evidence, or reliance on an estimate. Nothing here excludes non-waivable consumer rights or liability that applicable law does not permit to be excluded.
